LA Ventura team helps clean up the coast

KB Home is one of the nation’s leading builders of sustainable new homes and has made a longstanding commitment to the environment and the preservation of natural resources. In support of this priority, the team at KB Home Los Angeles/Ventura recently joined Heal the Bay for their Coastal Cleanup Day.

Heal the Bay is an environmental nonprofit dedicated to making the coastal waters and watersheds of Greater Los Angeles safe, healthy, and clean. For over 30 years, Heal the Bay has been the Southland’s strongest advocate for the ocean, and their annual Coastal Cleanup Day events are their largest annual event. In 2016, Coastal Cleanup Day saw over half a million people come together to pick up 18.3 million pounds of trash and debris in only a few hours. In addition to beach cleanups, Heal the Bay also works to revitalize urban waterways and advocate for smart water policy.

To support Coastal Cleanup Day, volunteers from both the Los Angeles/Ventura divison and the Los Angeles Corporate office and their children came together to clean up Lake Balboa in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles. The KB Home team was one of the largest groups at the collection site and was able to collect over 45 pounds of trash in just a few hours.

A big thank you to this cross-functional, cross-divisional team for coming together to support the environment we all share and make a difference in their local community!
